Hi everyone, welcome back to my weekly recommendations. This week, I've decided to go a different way. As many of you already know, English is not my first language, French is. I know some of you are interested in learning French, and I think one of the best ways to learn a language is to watch TV in that language.
So this is why, this week, I've decided to recommend a TV series that I grew up with called Dans un galaxie près de chez vous, translated as In a galaxy near you.
This TV show is a sci-fi parody, loosely inspired by Star Trek. It's 2034 and a group of seven people are on a space mission to find a new habitable planet for humans because we've destroyed the Earth.
You can find all the episodes and also the movies on youtube. I don't think they have subtitles though. Anyway, if you do speak French, you'll have a blast. If you don't you might be a little confused, but that's okay.
I remember watching this TV show when it first came out in 1998. I was probably too young to watch it honestly. I remember the trailers leading up to it. It was so cool because it was something sci-fi and we didn't have a lot of that in Quebec.
And the TV show is just really good. The characters are funny, I'm pretty sure part of my silly humour comes from them. Their dynamics are also super interesting. If you write a story and you want to create credible and interesting relationships between characters, this show is a good reference.
Also, an important fact to mention is that one of my first TV crush is Flavien, one of the characters in that series. I loved him.
Alright, I'll stop now because I want to go watch it again.
